NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee coach Mike Mularkey and his staff enjoyed a very rare start Monday to the work week with the Titans: The franchises first winning streak in more than two seasons. That made looking at mistakes from a 28-26 victory over winless Cleveland much easier coming off a second straight win, the Titans first back-to-back victories since the end of the 2013 season.Mularkey, however, made it clear the Titans (3-3) still have room to improve before earning a Victory Monday and a day off from meetings. The one thing you lose when you do that, you lose the ability to teach off that tape, Mularkey said. You dont have the time because youre already into the next opponent on Wednesday. It was important we came in here (Monday), and theres some things we definitely could have done better ... Again, weve got work to do.Still, the Titans took a moment to enjoy their first home win this season along with a winning streak after posting just three victories all of 2015.I feel great, defensive tackle Jurrell Casey said. Definitely could get used to this. Definitely everybody loves winning. With all that the Titans crossed off their to-do list beating the Browns, their next opponent offers the chance at ending another streak of futility and taking a step back to a winning record. The Indianapolis Colts (2-4) may be struggling after a 26-23 overtime loss at Houston, but they have beaten the Titans nine straight games and 14 of the last 15 in a very lopsided AFC South rivalry. Caseys lone win against Indianapolis came during his rookie season, 27-10 in Nashville on Oct. 27, 2011.He and the other Titans are definitely eager to try to end yet another skid.Moving forward to these next couple weeks, weve got two divisional opponents, Casey said. Were definitely looking to take this victory and run with it.Had the Colts held onto the lead, the Titans wouldve found themselves tied for first in the AFC South with Houston. Instead, the Titans must take care of their own divisional game with the Colts on Sunday and wait to see what Houston manages in Denver. The Titans wrap up their three-game home stand hosting Jacksonville (2-3) on Oct. 27 in a prime-time game.Really out of our control what else goes on around the league other than what we have to do on Sunday, Mularkey said. The Titans are doing some things very well. DeMarco Murray, despite being the focus of the Cleveland defense, ranks third in the NFL with 526 yards rushing. That has Tennessee third in rushing as a team.Brian Orakpo is third in the NFL with seven sacks, matching his total for all last season. The Titans have had six sacks in each of their past two games and now have 18 tied with Arizona for fourth in the NFL behind Denver (21), Buffalo (20) and Minnesota (19).One immediate result of winning at home is the Titans gave their fans a reason to stick around until the game ended after hearing opposing fans cheering loudly for Minnesota and Oakland in September. Casey credited fans with forcing two penalties by the Browns, the kind of vocal support Tennessee has lacked after winning only five games combined the past two seasons. You get a crowd behind you it changes the outlook of a game, Casey said. It makes you feel like youre playing a straight professional football game and not just out there playing around.Game notes Mularkey said NT Al Woods (calf) and CB Cody Riggs (hamstring) should play against the Colts. DETROIT -- Since May 1, the Houston Astros have been one of the best teams in baseball. No one would have been able to tell that this weekend, however. The Astros gave up six runs in the first inning Sunday on their way to an 11-0 loss to the Detroit Tigers, finishing off a lopsided series sweep. Detroit outscored Houston 28-8 in the three games. This wasnt our day, it wasnt our weekend and it wasnt our series, Astros manager A.J. Hinch said. We need to pack our stuff and get out of here. The Tigers, who began the day one game behind Boston for the second American League wild-card spot, have now won six straight -- including a sweep at Fenway Park. The win extended Detroits lead over Houston to 1 1/2 games. It is easy to be confident when you have won six in a row, but weve always felt like this team was going to be in the race, said Justin Upton, who also homered for Detroit. This is a really good team, and were getting hot at the same time were getting healthy. Two days after scoring nine runs in the first two innings off Collin McHugh, the Tigers were all over Dallas Keuchel in the first. Seven of the first eight batters reached base, capped off by James McCanns grand slam to make it 6-0. Only Cameron Maybin getting thrown out on the bases kept the defending Cy Young winner from giving up more runs in the inning.A couple tough-luck plays kind of extended that inning, and then I elevated a pitch to McCann, Keuchel said. That was the difference maker.Keuchel (6-11) allowed seven runs and seven hits in five innings, walking three and striking out four.Mike Pelfrey (4-9) got the win, pitching five shutout innings and allowing four hits and a walk while striking out four. He has now allowed one or fewer runs in five of his last eight starts.Pelfrey, though, was forced out by tightness in his back, and was having an MRI after the game. The Astros loaded the bases in the third, but Pelfrey got out of the jam by retiring Carlos Correa on a broken-bat grounder to third. Houstoon had them loaded again in the seventh, but Bruce Rondon struck out Correa.ddddddddddddCabrera made it 7-0 with a fifth-inning homer off Keuchel, and Mike Aviles added an eighth run in the next inning. He doubled off Scott Feldman and scored on Jose Iglesiass one-out sacrifice fly. After Feldman hit Maybin to start the seventh, Cabrera hit his second homer and Upton added a solo shot later in the inning.TRAINERS ROOMAstros: 1B Marwin Gonzalez (hand) and OF Carlos Gomez (hamstring) were both out of the starting lineup, leaving OF Jake Marisnick as the only healthy position player on Houstons bench. Gonzalez, who got hurt Friday night, is scheduled to see a hand specialist on Monday.Tigers: OF J.D. Martinez (elbow) went 2 for 5 for Triple-A Toledo on Saturday, and is now hitting .350 after four games of a rehab assignment. He still hasnt played the field, but the Tigers are hoping to have him back by weeks end.OLD FRIENDSMcCanns first-inning homer was the first grand slam of his career and the 15th home run. Not only did the grand slam come against Keuchel -- his college teammate at Arkansas -- he has also homered twice against Drew Smyly, who also played with them with the Razorbacks.FIRST HITHouston rookie Alex Bregman got his first career hit in the third inning, ending an 0-for-18 start. Cabrera called for the ball and ceremoniously presented it to Bregman, who tossed it to the Astros dugout.UP NEXTAstros: Return home for the first of four games with Toronto. The Astros may have to start rookie Joe Musgrove, because scheduled starter Doug Fister is with his wife, who is about to give birth to the couples first child. The Blue Jays havent announced their rotation for the series.Tigers: Off Monday before hosting the White Sox for three games. Anibal Sanchez (5-11, 6.56) is scheduled to start the opener against James Shields (5-12, 4.68). ' ' '
